Awakening Mind Global Community

Awakening Mind Global Community

The Foundation for the Awakening Mind was set up in 1999 to support the work of David Hoffmeister and an emerging global community. The wider community includes everyone who resonates with the non-dualistic teachings shared through Awakening Mind and A Course in Miracles.

Family of Light

Awakening to the truth of who we are is a collaborative venture of undoing the ego and learning to live a life that is truly inspired. Our spiritual community is a family of light that has been brought together by a devotion to Awakening that we feel in our hearts. It has come to be known as the Awakening Mind and Living Miracles communities, and comprises a thriving global internet ministry with physical bases in Utah and Mexico. The direct experience of inner peace and connection with the Spirit is what it’s all about. David Hoffmeister is the inspiration that has drawn this spiritual community together. His radiant joy and boundless energy is the effect of letting go of the ego and identifying completely with Spirit.

We welcome you to join our family of Light!

Spiritual Community – Silent Communion

In spiritual community the communion of silence dawns as mind awake. Love has no opposite. There is no choice in being. Mind reaches to itself, it does not go out. Within itself it has everything. Mind is whole, singular, unified, one. The horizontal “personal perspective” dissolves in the vertical as darkness vanishes in the light. God is the only Cause, and nothing exists outside the Mind of God. The world is causeless and therefore without real effects.

There is no “brother,” be it “self” or “other,” “attempting” or “trying to reach” or “striving” in silent communion, for all is one and recognizes its oneness. There is no “enlightened person,” for the construct of “person” is impossible. There is no “holy relationship” or “communication” between persons, for there is only one mind which knows no “betweenness.” Union is not the illusion of “two-getherness,” for union is wholly of and in the one divine mind. Father and Son, Creator and creation are the only real Relationship. What is the same cannot be different, and what is one cannot have separate parts. Communion is the deepest experience of awe and gratitude and the Vision of Christ which lifts and replaces the veil of perception forever. An experience that ends all doubting is the experience of silent communion.

When symbols merge and have no distinctiveness the time for words is almost over. Words are but symbols of symbols, twice removed from reality. They were made as labels for attack thoughts or illusory fragments. As the impossibility of fragmentation dawns, the Name of God safely replaces all symbols. Oneness is supreme happiness, and as silent communion deepens, there is no need for words or labels.

Our Centers

The original residence of the Awakening Mind global community is the Peace House in Cincinnati, Ohio, and it was the first base for David and Awakening Mind teachers starting in 1996.

The Living Miracles Ministry is part of the wider Awakening Mind global community, and supports the publishing of Awakening Mind materials and those involved with Awakening Mind. Living Miracles has centers in Utah and Mexico. These communities invite visitors and volunteers to join for gatherings, retreats, and devotional stays in support of Awakening.

Our centers focus on deepening in purpose and supporting the mind training necessary for Awakening. This excerpt from David Hoffmeister’s book, Awakening through A Course in Miracles, highlights these principles:

It takes willingness and attentiveness to examine beliefs closely. You begin by just noticing the thoughts that seem to fill your consciousness and you will gain some idea of how body-related they are. As you give your attention to the purpose of forgiveness, you begin asking in every situation: “What is this for? What does this bring me? Is this pursuit bringing me security and connectedness and peace and harmony? If I know where I’m going to be staying, who I’m going to be with, and what I’m going to be doing in the future, what does this really bring me? Has there ever been a lasting peace and security in knowing the past or attempting to figure out the future?” What self-concept has ever brought you a lasting experience of connectedness? ~ David Hoffmeister

Peace House

The Peace House became a place of quiet and meditation between travels since 1996, but also a place where David could welcome those desiring to step back from the world and to go deeply within the mind to discover the Christ within. David’s move to the Peace House opened a new phase of his ministry as the Holy Spirit guided him to acquire computers and use the internet. The result was the creation of a number of websites, including awakening-mind.org. While this computer ministry was unfolding, a friend was inspired to help David establish the non-profit organization, the Foundation for the Awakening Mind.

It has recently undergone a renewal to again become a devotional base of operations, and a publications hub and tour starting point. Learn more about inviting our Awakening Mind teachers to your area.

The following is an excerpt from an online question and answer forum by David Hoffmeister regarding the Peace House as a symbol of devotion:

“The Peace House is a symbol that represents a light, happy, and very reverent state of mind. It is not special or sacred in and of itself, for nothing exists apart from God as a separate entity in and of itself. Yet in serving the Holy Spirit’s purpose, everyone is welcome and greeted very warmly. All are included in the Spirit’s purpose. All are reminded of who they are. The presence of God is always very apparent to a mind that is willing to receive that which God has given forever. Teaching aids appear in many forms, and words, music, books, tapes, videos, pamphlets, web pages, etc. serve the plan under the Guidance of the Holy Spirit. The world is filled with parables of hope, and this describes the Peace House. All is offered freely, for there is no cost to anyone. Only gain, using the ‘process’ metaphor, is possible. The desire of the heart is all that is really required.”

Awakening Mind Retreat Center

The Awakening Mind Retreat Center has its foundation in the mystical teachings of Jesus as taught in A Course in Miracles. Reverence, mindfulness, and silence are our guides. This retreat center is a place of devotion and quiet contemplation.

The center sits atop a 150-foot stone cliff wall in the mystical Strawberry River canyon in Eastern Utah, two hours east of Salt Lake City. With stunning views in all directions, it is a magical place to unplug and simply be!
