We’ve just shifted gears here by welcoming Ricki as the new steward at the Extension Center. Within the first hours of arrival the Love of God was felt in the most gentle and supportive of ways. Within one day she felt the call to change the structure here and the team flowed right into it. And after only a few days there is already a profound healing taking place in the Mind. Expression, Clarity, and Trust are active in supporting this profound shift to come in with ease.

The community day here at the extension center was miraculous. This was a true group collaboration with the folks at Polestar; a community based in the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. They volunteer time towards supporting other communities, and on this day they joined, with Hawaii’s Awakening Mind Team, in a massive cleanup of the orchard and grounds at the Extension Center. With two acres of overgrown land as our symbol of the trick of the world, we embraced the moment, unafraid of the resistance.

Leading up to the movie retreat was an intense time, both in the mind and working with the coffee cart for Peter and I.  I could feel the perfection of the timing of the retreat but was also aware of a deep, lurking fear of ‘what next?’ What will Hawaii bring?   Will I be abandoned by my Devoted Companion who works with me and shares a house, and who most importantly, represents my desire to put Spirit first in all I do…and yet I still think I know and I can control what brings me safety in this world!  This safety was so precarious as it was about to be exposed…I was about to be exposed…that nothing I do in the world is enough for anyone.

The weekend movie retreat was amazing. It began spontaneously on Thursday night with a showing of Iron Man 3. This film is all about shedding the familiar skin and letting it all go. It’s time to get back to the original inspiration, and all things are not what they seem in our villain.  The big bad guy in the movie is a decoy or a deception in our mind.

This launched us into the retreat with Rochelle and Peter who came all the way from Australia to join in the awakening movie retreat. Just hours before the retreat it was guided that we enter into a two hour silent period, which felt so good to have the time to go inward before our scheduled opening movie Ruby Sparks. This film is about the characters that are created by the ego and how we don’t really have control over other people even though it may seem like it. All things are working towards the Healing. We stayed up late, diving into and exposing thoughts and feelings that were flushed up from this movie’s reflection of our desire to control the people around us.

I am delighted to share with you that the Awakening Mind website has been updated and refreshed, with love!

It has been a joy to collaborate with Thomas on this project – from the moment it was a ‘go’ it has flowed to us and through us in an experience that has been pure delight! Thomas set up the Foundation for the Awakening Mind back in 1999 and he designed the original website, through which many of us first came in contact with David and his teachings.

Here the retreat team is called to have a joining in the lead-up to the movie retreat. This photo captures beautifully the process of getting clear and listening to the Holy Spirit for all directions. The team join as Thomas (who has stewardship over the kitchen and tech) reviews some thoughts about logistics that are up in awareness for clarity. Bob (who has the assignment of greeting participants and handling donations), and Colin (chef for the meals) are fully present. All are using this backdrop to notice if there are any blocks to love’s presence in mind, and to listen and take directions from the Holy Spirit. This is called mind training: to keep the mind clear and receptive.

We’re gearing up for the movie retreat this week by power washing the moss covered driveway, trimming the palm trees, and freshening up our ‘ohana area.  In Hawaiian, ‘ohana refers to a close group of friends resembling family, where no one gets left behind… the extended family. The ‘ohana area is at the center of the grounds here at the Extension Center.  This space serves for spontaneous connections, where one might sit in stillness during an active day, and as dining space on warm Hawaiian days.  The word ‘ohana is a great symbol for the powerful connections and acceptance witnessed and experienced each day with this devoted group of people.
